Terms and Conditions

1. The service

ComUni supports teaching, course materials, schedules, required works, submissions, grades, announcements, and campus community features. Features may differ by Institution, course, role, or academic period. ComUni does not replace official academic regulations, enrollment decisions, or instructions issued directly by the Institution. If they conflict, the Institution’s official rules and decisions take precedence.

2. Your account

Your account is personal. Keep your password and recovery information confidential, use multi-factor authentication when required, and notify the Institution promptly if you suspect unauthorized access. You may not share, sell, transfer, or use another person’s account. You are responsible for activity performed through your account unless it resulted from a security failure outside your control.

3. Acceptable use

You must use ComUni lawfully and respectfully. You must not:

• harass, threaten, impersonate, discriminate against, or expose another person’s private information;
• upload malware, executable payloads, deceptive files, or content that infringes intellectual-property rights;
• attempt to bypass access controls, probe another account, disrupt the service, scrape restricted data, or overload systems;
• submit work dishonestly, misrepresent authorship, or use ComUni to violate academic-integrity rules; or
• use marketplace, chat, forum, or lost-and-found features for fraud, spam, unlawful trade, or unsafe activity.

The Institution may investigate reports, hide or remove content, restrict features, or suspend access when reasonably necessary to protect users, academic integrity, the service, or legal obligations.

4. Content and coursework

You retain ownership of original content you submit. You grant the Institution a limited, non-exclusive permission to store, reproduce, display, scan, and share that content only as needed to operate ComUni, deliver teaching, assess work, moderate community spaces, maintain records, and meet legal obligations. Do not upload content you lack permission to use.

Course materials, feedback, software, branding, and other content supplied by the Institution or its staff remain protected by their applicable rights. You may use them for your own authorized educational purposes and may not redistribute them unless the rights holder permits it.

5. Submissions and grades

You are responsible for checking deadlines, submission status, and file readability. Keep your own copy of important work. A technical timestamp or displayed grade may be corrected where there is an error. Questions or appeals about assessment decisions must follow the Institution’s academic procedures; accepting these Terms does not waive any right to challenge an academic decision.

6. Personal data and privacy

The Institution processes account identity, roles, enrollment, learning activity, submissions, grades, communications, security events, and technical records to provide and secure ComUni, administer education, meet legal duties, and protect legitimate interests where applicable. Access is limited by role and need. Retention periods and lawful bases are determined by the Institution and applicable law.

Depending on the circumstances, you may have rights to information, access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection, and data portability, as well as rights concerning automated decisions. Some rights are limited where records must be retained for education, legal claims, public tasks, or other lawful reasons. Contact the Institution or its data-protection officer to exercise your rights. You may also complain to your competent data-protection authority. Acceptance of these Terms records your agreement to the service rules. It is not consent to unrelated or optional data processing; where consent is legally required, it must be requested separately and may be withdrawn as described at the point of collection.

7. Availability and security

The Institution works to keep ComUni available and secure, but maintenance, outages, internet failures, or security events may interrupt access. No online service can be guaranteed error-free or continuously available. Report urgent access or submission problems through the Institution’s official support channel and follow any alternative submission instructions it provides.

8. Suspension and ending access

Access may end when your relationship with the Institution changes, your account is deactivated, these Terms are rejected, or serious/repeated misuse occurs. Ending access does not automatically erase academic, security, moderation, or legal records that the Institution is required or entitled to retain. You may sign out at any time; contact the Institution about account closure or data requests.

9. Responsibility and liability

Nothing in these Terms excludes liability or rights that cannot lawfully be excluded. Subject to that rule, the Institution is not responsible for losses caused by unauthorized third-party activity, external services, events outside reasonable control, or a user’s failure to follow official instructions. Community and marketplace content is supplied by users; verify information and use appropriate care before acting on it.

10. Changes to these Terms

The Institution may update these Terms to reflect legal, security, operational, or feature changes. The current version and effective date are shown above. If a material new version is published, ComUni will ask you to review and accept it before continuing to use the authenticated Portal. Earlier acceptance records are retained as evidence of the version accepted at that time.

11. Applicable rules and contact

These Terms are governed by the mandatory laws and official regulations applicable to the Institution and your relationship with it. Mandatory consumer, education, employment, and data-protection rights are not limited. For questions, complaints, accessibility needs, or legal notices, contact the Institution through the official administrator, support, or data-protection contact it has provided to you.
